In Job Search Tips
https://www.vox.com/recode/22673353/unemployment-job-search-linkedin-indeed-algorithm Hi, maybe some of you have read this article from Vox.com already and I suspect many have already experienced this personally. It's likely not a surprise to you but a confirmation of what you know to be true. I know a while back pre-pandemic I probably submitted 70 job applications which resulted in two interviews and nothing beyond the first pass. To me, this is a reminder of our current reality. If you want to find a job, in probably 90% of the cases, you will find it through your network of friends, friends of friends, and acquaintances. The Applicant Tracking Systems that are currently in place, based on personal experience, and the content of this article seem to only help the HR departments. Yes, I understand that there are some companies like Google that get thousands of applications for a single position so there is a place for ATS, and neither you nor I will fix this. However, it reaffirms that you will likely find your next job through a friend. What do you think?
