The hidden job market isn’t actually hidden 😱 It simply just includes ALL of the other ways that roles can be found BESIDES just the job boards. Here are SIX other ways to find jobs 👇 👄 Word of mouth → Let your people know you’re job searching and ask who they might be able to connect you with or introduce you to → Meet new people: Sign up for @Shapr or @LunchClub and make meaningful connections in your industry. → Reach out to people working at your dream companies and ask for an informational interview (psst they very well might have the inside scoop!) 👩💻 Connecting directly with Hiring Managers → More and more Hiring Managers are posting roles directly from their own LinkedIn profiles due to a lack of budget to post on job boards or tight deadlines for hiring. → Search #hiring and filter by industry and role to find posts → Then, connect directly with that person (always coupled with a personalized note, of course, 🙃) 🎓 Tapping into your alumni network → Search your dream company, click on People, and then filter by your alma mater to find ideal people to connect with → OR go to your alma mater’s LinkedIn page, click Alumni, and find out where fellow alumni are working to discern who to best connect with. 📰 Business news stories → This can actually be a great way of learning who might potentially be hiring in the future (and therefore who to get a head start on networking with!) 📣 Social Media → Follow company accounts and engage with their content (Tweet at them! Comment on a LinkedIn post!) → Use the hashtag search function on LinkedIn and Instagram to learn about places that might be hiring ↩️ Reverse engineer the process and make the job come to you. → Optimize the heck out of your LinkedIn profile. Keywords, skills, recommendations, and a robust About section are all a must → Start creating content. The more you create (whether it’s LinkedIn, a blog, a podcast, you name it!) the more opportunities that will come your way (speaking from experience 🙋♀️
