I’ve been conducting research into what people want from the experience of work. (Thanks to all of you who have contributed on LinkedIn!)
Many of you have told me you want a job that gives you good puzzles to solve. So what exactly makes one puzzle good, and another puzzle only okay? And what can we learn from great puzzles that we can use to make the experience of work better?
This essay is my first foray into turning the research into specific recommendations regarding how to design better work. If you are someone who wants your job to give you puzzles to solve, I’d value your feedback. Have I captured it?
